The Solutionīring your Subaru to a service center as soon as possible. If the alternator is failing, it may not be able to steadily supply enough current to all the components.

In addition to recharging the battery, the alternator is in control of running the electrical components in your vehicle. Most likely, flickering dash lights are due to problems with the alternator. No, your Subaru isn't trying to throw a rave. The Symptom: Dash Lights Are Flickering The Cause Because of this, we recommend taking your Subaru to the dealership so that expert technicians can take care of it. It often involves removing parts of your vehicle's dashboard. The SolutionĬhanging these light bulbs isn't as simple as changing headlight or tail light bulbs. When one of those bulbs burned out, that part of the dash would lose its illumination. But in older vehicles, the instrument cluster was backlit by light bulbs. Nowadays, individual LEDs will often make up the dash lights, so it's incredibly uncommon to see part of the dash that's larger than one of these lights go dim. This is a problem that is generally seen on vehicles that are a few years old or older, and that's due to the kind of technology used. Now everything works. The Symptom: Dash Is Partly Dark The Cause Cut the wire and placed a jumper wire the bypass the connector to fix the power problem. Placed jumper wire on the red/blue wire at the fuse panel to the red/blue wire terminal on the rear of the Easy Checker and the instrument lit up like a Christmas tree.ĭetermined that the red/blue from wire connector under left side panel in front of the clutch had no power. With the help of a friend who is a retired electrical engineer, we determined that the red/blue wire (power wire) at the Easy Checker on the rear of the instrument panel was not getting power from the fuse panel. My Amp-probe still good at 37 maybe 38 years young. I'm thinking of purchasing a Extech tone detector that will allow me to find shorts and opens easily.Ĭan be next to impossible to test electrical circuit without good meter. Another problem is the wiring diagram that I have is impossible to read in critical areas that I need to determine wire colors, etc. I have access to the rear of the Easy Checker wires which controls the panel lights. Well, on my L2650 the instrument panel is accessable after taking off a few panels. But panel is a real pain to get to.ĭon't think your issue is with the battery ground but the control panel ground. I'm about ready to give up and take it to a repair shop.ĭusty I have issue with a control panel that one day will force me to for once find it and get it fixed. I checked a lot of circuits and grounds but haven't able to find the problem. I've working on this problem for about a week on and off.

Thanks Frank on the comment about grounding issues. I'm not fammiliar with your specific tractor but most non working instrument panel guages etc. Right rear light doesn't work and the wire has no power. Turn signal lights don't work but the left rear light will come on but will not blink.
